are you sure you didnt intend for the fire shield function the way it currently does ??

the damage seems to indicate that it functions like elemental shield 1d6 +1 per caster level.

my guess is that it uses same/similar script.

im currently not sure how the caster level is determined though.

im going to do some testing with different lvl druids and see if there is any difference.

its possible that the caster level used to determine the damage caps at lvl 15 when the ember guard feat is obtained.

lvl 15 would mean 16-21 damage. however, this seems inconsistent with the reports of 17-24 dmg.

ill do some testing and let you know what i find out.

i think its important to keep in mind just how gimped a melee focused shifter already is in nwn2. autosave bug aside, they have relatively low capacities for ab and dmg making their overall dps value quite small in most situations.

all things considered, it may be a more balanced decision to update the ember guard description rather than further gimping the shifter in the dmg department. just a thought.

btw the guy who pointed that out on LoA forum hates me for some reason and has chosen engage in an immature and pointless rivalry with me.

Well... the Ember Guard and the Nature's Warrior Blaze of Power should be doing a static 1d6 of fire damage. Instead they are doing damage equal to 1-6 PLUS the adjusted druid level. A 1d6+30 damage shield was in not intended for either the shape or the class. Granted, that's only a free casting of the Elemental Shield spell (which does that much damage) so it's not excessively strong in comparison. Hmmm, I'll think about it and let you know what I decide. I can always add a cmi_option to allow both to act as a fire shield and not the 1d6 if I decide to fix the 'bug.'

If you guys want to help their melee ability, turn on the CMI_option that allows fang to scale to +7 or custom change it to be even stronger.

yeah the fang is already scripted to give 1 dmg per 3 lvls all the way to lvl 30 for +10 total ..

even so the highest possible ab with ember guard is 53 (all classes feats and spells considered, but not counting extra class spell bonus's from items or potions) .. i have 52 because i decided i liked armor skin more than epic prowess ..

in the campaign this would be great, but on a server like LoA its quite low.

im currently in LoA this very moment with a lvl 28 druid trying to figure out if more druid levels means more fire shield dmg (compared to my lvl 18 druid/nw).

as i said it may be that the +dmg per lvl caps at the level you obtain the ember guard feat (15).

ill let you know within the hour what i find out just as soon as i get someone to assist me.

ok .. it seems that there is no level cap on +dmg from fire shield ..

lvl 28 druid does more ember fire shield dmg than a lvl 18 druid does ..

this indeed appears to function exactly like elemental shield ..

i guess the question is now what to do about it ..

Druid11/Lion of Talisid10/Nature's Warrior5/Fighter4 (27 BAB) in Ember Guard shape (30 str) with extended Spirit of the Bear (+12 Strength), Greater Magic Fang (+10 on your server), Weapon Focus for +1 AB, Weapon Mastery (Unarmed) for +2 AB, Epic Prowess is a 57 AB. Red Dragon for the same character would be the 28 HD dragon (35 Str for +2 more AB).

ah lion of talisid is not something i have looked at ..

you definately proved me wrong ..

however all my build ideas are based on taking monk for ac .. i wouldnt sacrifice the ac of my build for the extra ab .. i consider the monk and natures warrior levels to be indispensable .. which leaves me 1 class to choose from ..

the build i use is balanced .. i will admit that ..

my dps is relatively low but i make up for it with comparable increase in survivability ..

overall im content with my druid shifter and enjoy being different ..

i will definately take a closer look at that talisid class .. ty for that ..

edit:

i just realized that with your build you wouldnt get the full +10 ab from magic fang due to lower caster lvl ..

the talisid class appears to gain divine spell slots but not caster levels ..

im not entirely sure about this .. but it looks lke the caster level would be 17 or 27 (if talsid levels apply to druid caster level)

11 druid
2 natures warrior
4 practiced spellcaster
10 or 0 Talisid

lvl 27 = 9 ab from magic fang
lvl 17 = 5 ab from magic fang

edit:

i just realised something else ..

the bab progression on talisid is medium ..

the bab for that build would be 24 ..

i still think 53 is the most you can get with 1 lvl monk ..

as i said tho .. i consider it balanced .. which is why i dont complain about the ab ..

its the trade off that i make with this build ..

i mentioned the low ab simply to support the point that the overall dps on the character is already quite low even with the fire shield functioning like elemental shield ..

The Lion is a Full BAB prc and it provides 10/10 progression.

oh cool .. thats definately useful to know ..

i got my info about the talisid class off of nwn2db.com ..

http://nwn2db.com/library.php?type=class&cat=123&kcp=true

apparently their class info is incorrect ..

that explains the confusion on my part ..

this lion of talisid class is definately looking tastier now ..
