Wildshape Improvements

Post  Archaos on Thu Jun 02, 2011 4:14 pm

Hey Kaedrin, will you consider adding the missing feats and skill bonuses to the wildshape creatures hide? Like the panther getting Alertness, Weapon Finesse and Skill bonuses like Hide, Move Silently, Spot, Listen and Tumble (Balance/Jump/Climb).

Right now there's little use for any shape except the bear for tanking. That way each wildshape could be used for different purposes: Bear for damage, Boar for resilience (Toughness), Panther for scouting (Weapon Finesse, Alertness, Stealth, Listen, Spot), Wolf for tracking (Track, Survival, maybe Scent?) and maybe replace the totally useless badger with Spider (Weapon Finesse, Poison) since they share similar stats but spider shape is actually useful for poisoning.

But why? It's not like it unbalances the game by making them more useful and closer to PnP. Currently the only useful shape is bear for tanking.

bear tank?

I've found that the boar makes a better tank than the bear.

True, I forgot about that one. Indeed the boar has better AC than the panther, better hp and same damage with the bear but a bit worse attack bonus. Making every other shape useless. So why not make every shape useful for different situations? That's the whole purpose of WildShape in PnP anyway.

Wildshape follows Alternate Form. Per that, it's NOT pen and paper to just give them all that stuff.

No alertness, no finesse, no skill focus feats, no skill bonuses. It's currently working as per pnp.

Hmm I checked it now. It's been errated right? *sigh* There goes the only thing the druid had against the cleric that made him more useful."

Still you could add Spider Shape, just a suggestion.

Don't think he likes messing with polymorph effects, too much work or too many problems or something--I asked the same question about a Spider Shape Warlock Invocation and got turned down, too.
