Forest's Hammer (Cleaving)
I've got a Ranger/Forest Master build I'm trying. Yes, he's a strength Ranger dual-weilding warmaces. It's more entertaining than I was anticipating, mainly due to the oversized two-weapon fighting feat. I'm just looking for clarification on the Forest's Hammer (Cleaving) feat/ability that they get at level 9. It says that it makes a warmace a "mighty cleaving" weapon. IIRC from PnP, mighty cleaving means that if the character has the cleave feat, he gets two extra attacks after killing something instead of one. I just wondered how the NWN2 engine handles that because I don't know of any other weapon that has that property in the game. Does it just grant great cleave instead? Does the character need cleave?

You get great cleave.
As for any character needing great or even regular cleave; I reckon that really depends on what sort and how many enemies your character would be facing in whatever module your playing (great clave is a decent feat in the OC and pretty much useless in MotB for example). However since you don't have to "buy" the feat and just get it as part of your character progression, I'd say it doesn't really mater whether or not you really need it.

Cleave I would say generally has value because a free attack is a free attack, especially if you already have to invest in power attack (viz, for Divine Might/Strength or to qualify for a prestige class). I agree that great cleave generally isn't worth it at higher levels, except if you are going to be a Frenzied Berserker, for example.Raygereio wrote:You get great cleave.

It would appear then that I wouldn't need to take cleave itself, which is a good thing because Forest Master builds will be a bit feat-starved.
