CMI_Player_equip
Hi, I happened to be noticing that characters were repeatedly getting hit with spell failure when equipping items/swapping them out. What is the reason that the above script includes the spell failure effect? I'm guessing there is a specific reason, but couldn't figure out what it was.

It's to prevent an exploit, it should also apply to all feats and abilities.
It's basically a 6 second cool down when changing equipment.

What exploit is it trying to eliminate? In pnp, you can for instance, drop a shield, sheath a weapon, etc as move actions and cast a standard action spell in the same round without any problems normally. You can also draw a weapon as a move action and cast standard action spells (most of them). You can also drop a weapon as a free action, draw another as a move action, and cast as a standard action. Sure it might provoke AOO's, but that should not outright prevent casting in the same round. Then there's of course quickened spells as well.
Or is there some other exploit? Either way, I had to disable this; it's not worth whatever benefit it's attempting to bring to the table. I'm constantly finding that at the beginning of combat, when I like to hit the pause button to issue initial instructions to casters, nearly every single time they have spell failure effect going on, even though they did not switch equipment at all. It's very annoying that the first and often the most critical round of combat no one can cast spells.
