Perfect Kaze No Kama - Monk (11), Fighter (12), Tempest (5), Duelist/Dragonslayer (2)
Race: Yuan-ti Pureblood
Alignment: Lawful Something
Background: Devout
Hit Points: 338
Spell Resistance: 41
Base Attack Bonus: 27
The Perfect Kaze no Kama improves significantly on the original recipe by including 5 levels of Tempest and two levels of either Dragonslayer or Duelist instead of the usual 5 levels of Duelist / Invisible Blade and 2 levels of something else.
This, in addition to the Melee Mastery feat, yields an increase of +4AB.
Also, when taking the Dragonslayer variant, the Kaze gains immunity to fear and an impressive +4 boost to will saves, while the Duelist variant increases the already impressive AC by 2.
Those not familiar with the Kaze build: The Kaze was explicitly designed for high magic campaigns like the Mask Of The Betrayer expansion. It is absolutely gear dependent! And while every build benefits from epic equipment, the Kaze benefits significantly more from the same gear than almost any other build. Extra damage from INT, AC from WIS and DEX, increased damage from weapon enchantments due to high number of attacks per round (up to 18) ... using a Deep Gnome, the AC could go as high as 78, while damage per hit can go as high as 78, too (funny coincidence).
Perfect Kaze Duelist
or
Perfect Kaze Dragonslayer
The Kaze Dragonslayer build benefits from taking one Dragonslayer level early, if you fear Fear effects.
Variant comparison (mundane gear, unbuffed)
The build is intended to be played in MOTB. That means you start at ECL 18 and have early access to pretty good magical equipment. If that is not the case, then it's going to be a hard road.
Technically the build is playable from 1-30, although you'll have to rely on party buffs to hold your own in early battles. On the other hand, attribute buffs benefit the Kaze more than any other party member, so it'll go well in a party.
And how does it perform in "real life"?
In the MOTB it dominates everything pretty soon. You'll constantly get showered with epic equipment and you'll hit level 23 pretty soon (combat insight = INT damage). You don't rely on buffs (Safiya's continuous haste is neat, though), you don't get hit ... meaning that you don't need to rest. If you want to solo MOTB, then this is the build for you.
On online servers it simply depends on the available gear, so stay away from low magic servers with this one.
Cheers!
