Prestige class : Mystic Theurge (Modified for NWN2 balance, but probably could use more tweaking)

Requirements:
Concentration 15
Spellcraft 10
Iron Will feat
Combat Casting feat
Spellcasting: ability to cast 4th level arcane and divine spells (pushes druid, cleric and wizard level to 7; favored soul, sorcerer and spirit shaman level to 8; bard to 10; paladin and ranger to 14)

Class Features:
Hit Die: d4
Base Attack Bonus: Low
High Saves: Will
Weapon Proficiencies: None
Armor Proficiencies: None
Skill Points: 2 + Int modifier
Class Skills: Bluff, Concentration, Craft Alchemy, Heal, Lore, Spellcraft

lvl 1 divine caster level
lvl 2 arcane caster level
lvl 3 divine caster level
lvl 4 arcane caster level
lvl 5 arcane and divine caster level
lvl 6 arcane caster level
lvl 7 divine caster level
lvl 8 arcane caster level
lvl 9 divine caster level
lvl 10 arcane and divine caster level

Spellcasting: At every level you gain new spells per day and spells known if applicable, as if you gained a level in an arcane and divine spellcasting class you belonged to before adding the prestige class level. If you had more than one arcane or divine spellcasting class before becoming a mystic theurge, you must decide which class gains the increased casting ability.

I guess if you took a lot of epic spells it would work, but with requirements and progression like that, I would imagine most MTs wouldn't get 9th level spells until very late epic, if at all.

Generally, in PnP, Mystic Theruge is considered a fairly weak class because of how caster checks vs SR and saving throws work, not to mention the fact that it ends up just sticking you with a ton of low level spells. Of course, power creep must be accounted for, but every dual casting class released after the DMG was published had a serious leg up on the MT (just think of the Anima Mage, Fochlucan Lyrist or Arcane Hierophant). Maybe the plethora of low level spells is even more useful in PnP... but with the easy resting in NWN2, large numbers of spells seems useless.

Why do you feel the progression has to be so delayed for balance?

If you are going to alternate between arcane and divine progressions, why not just alternate between Cleric ( or any divine) and Wizard (or any arcane) classes ? Two levels that advance both are not worth the HP, BAB, feats, turn undead and DCs you lose. Hell even 10 levels of both divine and arcane progression is not worth it.

I suggest you play a Cleric with the domains that grant many of the arcane spells. Fire, Strength, Water, Storm Domains grant many of the most popular arcane spells. Start with very Wisdom to get bonus spells and you are almost a Mystic Theurge but much more survivable.

If you want a support class that has many divine and arcane spells, play a Bard and get Medium Armor and Battle Caster feats.

If you want to play Mystic Theurge that bad, download Reeron's pack and replace Kaedrin's with that. When you are done, change them again.
Or just figure out how to enable it but you have to do it every time Kaedrin updates his pack.

I'm locking this topic. I'm tired of repeating myself on mystic theurge. Never going to happen.
